ATS and scores

What is an ATS?

An applicant tracking system is the software employers use to receive and manage applications. It converts your resume into text and fields (name, contact details, job history, skills) so recruiters can search, filter and read it. Problems usually happen at that conversion step, when layout or formatting makes the text hard to extract. The ATS resume guide explains more.

Does QuickHunt guarantee I'll pass an ATS?

No. The ATS score estimates how well a resume follows common parsing and screening practices. Employers configure their systems differently, many use people rather than automatic filters to decide, and no tool can see inside a particular employer's setup. A high score means you've removed common obstacles, not that you'll be shortlisted.

Why did my ATS score change?

The score is deterministic, so the same content and job description always give the same result. It changes when an input changes:

  • you edited the content, or added, changed or removed the job description;
  • a different template or design changed the page count;
  • time passed, since “Present” is counted as today for gap and experience checks;
  • for uploaded files, the AI parse of the file came out slightly differently.

The optional AI recruiter review never changes the score.

How is the score calculated?

Five categories with fixed weights: ATS essentials 25%, sections 15%, content and impact 30%, style 10% and job match 20%. Each check passes, warns or fails. Critical problems (such as no experience section, or no selectable text) cap the score. See the ATS checker page for the full list.

Import and export

Can I import a PDF or DOCX?

Yes, up to 5 MB. Scanned PDFs without selectable text, password-protected PDFs and older .doc files can't be imported. Import uses AI to sort the text into sections, so it needs an AI provider. See resume import.

Do you keep the file I upload?

No. The file is read in memory to extract its text and then discarded. Only the structured content and the original file name are saved.

Are exported PDFs text-selectable?

Yes. PDFs are generated on the server as real documents with a text layer, not images of the page, so an ATS (or you) can select and copy the text. The project's tests re-extract text from every template to check this.

Can I export to Word?

Not at the moment. Export is PDF only.

AI and privacy

Does the AI change my employers, titles or dates?

No. A whole-resume rewrite can only return your summary, bullets for roles that already exist, and skills; employers, titles, dates, schools and locations aren't part of what it can change. Suggestions that add numbers, technologies, qualifications or names that aren't in your resume are flagged, or in a whole-resume rewrite not applied. These checks can't catch every overstatement, so read suggestions before applying them. See the AI resume writer.

What information is sent to AI?

For rewrites, reviews and cover letters: your resume content without its contact block (name, email, phone, address, website, LinkedIn and GitHub are removed), plus the job description and your instructions. For imports: the file's text, with emails, phone numbers, links and your name replaced by placeholders. The privacy policy lists everything.

Can I use QuickHunt without AI?

Yes. The editor, templates, PDF export, section coach and the ATS checks on your saved resumes all work without AI. Import and AI rewrites need it. Downloading a PDF needs a plan or the trial.

Which AI does QuickHunt use?

The AI provider configured by the service administrator, for everyone. There's nothing to set up. Every AI suggestion is shown next to your original for review, and suggestions that add a number, tool, name or more responsibility than your resume states are flagged and not pre-selected.

Interviews and voice tutor

How do mock interviews work?

Choose a role, level and interview type (technical, behavioral, HR, aptitude or mixed) and answer 5 to 12 questions, one at a time with a timer. The report scores every answer, explains what was wrong and shows the correct answer. Retake with a focus on your weak topics until you're ready. See mock interviews.

When am I "interview ready"?

When your last 3 mock interviews for a role average 75 or more and no topic is below 50. The progress view shows how close you are.

Why can't I paste into the answer box?

To keep practice close to a real interview. Paste and tab switches are recorded in your report. It's a deterrent, not proctoring.

What is the voice tutor?

A live voice call with an AI tutor that uses your resume, a job you choose and your mock interview results. It can teach concepts, run a spoken mock interview or coach your spoken English, then gives you a report with communication scores, corrections and practice tasks. See voice tutor.

The voice tutor can't hear me. What do I do?

Allow the microphone for this site (the lock icon in the address bar), close other apps using the mic, and use Chrome, Edge or Safari. The call setup has a microphone test that shows whether your mic is working.

How long can a voice call be?

Up to 30 minutes per call and 60 minutes per day. Calls need an active plan or the trial.

Templates, jobs and account

Can I switch templates without losing content?

Yes. Content and design are stored separately, so switching templates changes only the look. Sections you've renamed, reordered or hidden stay that way. The switch can be undone. See templates.

Are two-column templates ATS-safe?

QuickHunt's two-column PDFs keep text in reading order, but some ATS software still reads columns in the wrong order. For large employers' online portals, a single-column template is safer.

Where do job results come from?

From public web search engines, queried by a metasearch engine on the QuickHunt server, for listings on sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, Naukri, Greenhouse and Lever. QuickHunt doesn't host or verify listings and has no partnerships with job boards. Always confirm a job on the employer's own site. See job search.

Are my cover letters saved?

No. Cover letters stay in your browser tab until you close it. Export the PDF or copy the text when you're done.

How do I delete my account?

Resumes can be deleted any time from Resumes. Whole accounts are deleted by an administrator. See Contact and Privacy → Deletion.
